Face Masks with Call to Crafting

Face Masks with Call to Crafting

A couple of months ago, our Los Angeles-based production studio was busy executing wallcovering and print projects for our customers and community. Now, during this global and national pandemic, Astek is fortunate to use our resources and equipment to help essential communities by supplying materials for PPE (personal protective equipment).

Our team has been busy cutting patterns to sew into face masks for health care workers, janitors, security guards, grocery store workers, and other essential workers on the frontlines. Using our CNC routing machine's fabric cutting wheel, we've streamlined cutting patterns to produce over 10,000 masks and are making thousands more every week.

All fabric patterns are being donated to Call to Crafting, an endeavor initiated by Hillary Cohen, with the goal to create 100 million face masks. Aided by a team of sewers, the assistant television director turned organizer is working to make this goal a reality. On April 25, Hillary is leading a 12-hour sew-a-thon on Zoom to coach participants across the country from behind her own sewing machine.
